The Numa Numa Dance Kid

It's amazing, you know, how much the internet has done for us. I could have lived without some its contributions , though. Like The Numa Numa Dance kid (see: previous Blog Wars article) who is now the subject of a local news story because he lives around here. -- News Story Here --
No longer do people just point, laugh, make fun of, and forward the anonymous fat/naked/foreign person whose picture/video/plea-for-sex has spread across the internet like a virus. No, no! We must buy him iPods and donate money to him! Or give him a world record, book him on all the TV shows, and list him as the 100th most powerful celebrity.
Now the Numa Numa Dance kid, a.k.a. Gary Brolsma of New Jersey, is the subject of a featured story on a local NBC news channel.
Want to get famous? Now you know how.

Re: The Numa Numa Dance Kid by Tristero on Thursday, February 17 @ 12:20PM EST [user info] | Ya gotta admit that the video is pretty entertaining tho... Numa Numa Kid is much more fun to watch than Star Wars Kid, and he's a bit heavier too.
If anything, it goes to show that an everyday 19 year old from New Jersey can make a video that holds the attention of the masses better than a large percentage of shitty MTV music videos that cost a significant chunk to make. |

Re: The Numa Numa Dance Kid by mr_moogle on Thursday, February 17 @ 07:51PM EST [user info] | What makes his video so enjoyable to watch is how he gets so into it while (I figure) acknowledging how goofy he must look. He had to have practiced to make the video, and practicing somewhat dampens the retardness of humans during spontaneous events. (I stress "somewhat".)
He's got a funny face and a great sense of what is stylistically funny in a tongue-in-cheek way.
I like the guy and would like to shake his hand. He's probably a very cool fellow. (That is, by my definition of cool, not yours.)

Re: The Numa Numa Dance Kid by coz on Monday, February 21 @ 01:39PM EST [user info | http://www.cozbaldwin.com] | It appears my local NBC affiliate is just taking the story from MSNBC as Gary was all over the news, national and local. They picked up on it a little late, but I'm sure Gary doesn't mind.... do you Gary...? |
