Don't be evil? Don't be naive.
You have used google. We all have. Hell, I have a couple gmail accounts. You know they track your search history, right? And your email is sorted for keywords. Hell your emails are indexed and searchable. Know another group of people who collect and aggregate mass amounts of information? Sure you do, man! The NSA! The CIA can't collect information domestically (legally) and the FBI are just cops with big dicks. The Secret Service work to protect the president and foil counterfeiters (I know, right?). So what does the NSA do that's so important anyway?
- They have access to every email you've ever written or received EVER.
- They have access to every IM conversation you've ever had EVER.
- You have a keyboard? Ever used it on the internet? They know every word you've ever typed EVER. (And they think your mom is hot)
I'm not saying they give a shit about you, I'm just saying that if you suddenly get interesting they'll piece together everything about you of any relative importance. Geez. It's almost like they know everything about every one of us.
HOLY SHIT it gets worse. I'm not exaggerating when I say the NSA has all of this info on everybody. It was uncovered a few years ago that they have a secret room in a San Francisco telcom company in which they literally funnel the entire fucking internet through a gateway that sifts info. That's not the only one they have, either. They basically have access to everything.
HOLY SHIT it gets even worse than that! Guess who just allied themselves with the NSA? That's right... FUCKING GOOGLE!!! At this point I'd like to thank myself for not having become a terrorist, a rapist, a molester, or a republican. Otherwise I'd strain my neck looking over my shoulder.
essequemodeia's note: Soopa soopa soopaboll! Time to get my buffalo wings on. Watching good football and eating the unhealthiest food you can find south of foie gras. That's how you spend your superbowl sunday. My prediction? Colts 31 - Saints 24.

Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by hufnmouth on Sunday, February 07 @ 04:37PM EST [user info] | essequemodeia you are late. Use Windows? The NSA is all over that. MS Word? Each document carries identifying meta-data. Print a document? They can know which printer and who it was sold to. Like Linux, NSA is there to (SELinux). All encryption algorithims used on the web are cracked by the NSA before they are used on the web. I wrote an app several years ago that partially decrypts Internet traffic. I had to turn my code over to - guess who - the NSA. EVERY cell phone sold now has a GPS chip. Guess who ordered it?
Did you know that DigitalTV transmitters keep track of what you watch and how long?
What do you think the Cray Jaguar does? Serve files?
In crunches number to develop profiles on you and me.
Your privacy is gone. Your anonymity is gone.
Do I need to go on? |
Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by easyyyy on Sunday, February 07 @ 05:29PM EST [user info] | Well it's a good thing I write my emails with mspaint. Not for security, but because I draw penises all over the borders.
Also, inb4 rpyroneoconservafuck | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by gros on Sunday, February 07 @ 05:58PM EST [user info] | YES YES YES PLEASE GO ON!
You're the next Dan Brown man!
also, remember the neko app from windows 3.1, that cute kittycat that followed your mouse around?
the fucker would store your pointer positions, and then FAX em to the NSA | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by hufnmouth on Monday, February 08 @ 12:21PM EST [user info] | This is a good article on the scope of domestic spying

Pay attention to the last section. The NSA acts as a middleman between Telcos and other gov't agencies;selling your information to them.
Another item is the DCSNet described as the FBI's "point-and-click wiretapping system".
More on DCSNet: The EFF had to sue to get information on it through the FoIA. Even then, the FBI only released a white paper.

Oh yeah, and watch out for NeuStar

Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by Nostra on Sunday, February 07 @ 08:00PM EST [user info] | If this surprises you, then you clearly haven't been paying attention. Anything even remotely secret that I do is encrypted on a permanently-offline computer using custom written software that uses rotating, 1mb, shared keys. Not only are the keyfiles secret, the method is secret.
There's no other way.

Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by Imtrpnoutonshrms on Sunday, February 07 @ 11:30PM EST [user info] | Uh you really think being a republican is going to catch the attention of the NSA? | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by hufnmouth on Monday, February 08 @ 12:24PM EST [user info] | It doesn't matter. Nearly all PKI encryption is a joke. The Jaguar and the Bengal supercomputers can crack those keys. Like I said before: commercial encryption get's checked by the NSA before it goes public. | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by Nostra on Monday, February 08 @ 05:10PM EST [user info] | Agreed, PKI is a joke.... I meant the keys used for my encryption are secret keys that were transferred by hand to my colleague (about 1 megabit long each) which are used as keyfiles for encryption/decryption. I'd never use public key encryption (well, ok... except for SSL on websites, but I have no other choice). Or even a published algorithm for encryption. Secret method is very powerful indeed. | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by gros on Monday, February 08 @ 07:14PM EST [user info] | Pretty please! Tell me what's so secret on your offline PC!!!! At least give me a hint! | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by Nostra on Monday, February 08 @ 09:00PM EST [user info] | Trade secrets, mostly. I work with several companies and we don't want our intellectual property available to anyone but ourselves. Paranoid security isn't as rare as you would expect. Cell phones aren't allowed in our board meetings simply because the telecoms have the ability to turn the mics on and listen, even when the phones are off. Call it corporate espionage. It's just standard operating procedure to be as paranoid as possible. | Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by gros on Friday, February 12 @ 03:01PM EST [user info] | LOL! |

Re: Google + NSA = Uh Oh by DolphinNuts on Monday, February 08 @ 10:40AM EST [user info] | Man this is crazy, I knew they were monitoring us but not that deeply. Doesn't really surprise me tho. Hey, at least this way they will really know whether we are terrorists or not! :) |
